Sunset at Sunset

Well, generally Sunset Beach... Specifically Pipeline, North Shore.

S C A R Y

I just got back from doing something incredibly scary! I hiked up towards Manoa Falls... In pitch dark night! Well I had a light but it was still very scary.

but... and this is partly what I was hoping for... I saw a few friends...

First I heard and saw this...

 Who turned out to be a Cane Toad...

 Then in the tree above... this incredibly sweet pair of Red-billed Leiothrix.

Both introduced species BTW.

It was all good until my big light pooped out leaving me with the backup that I hadn't changed the batteries in since the Catacombs!

I never made it all the way up to the falls though... otherwise all turned out fine.

Windward Day

After [what's becoming] my traditional Sunday breakfast at the Waialae Aloha Crepes (portobello & blue cheese today)...

I headed up the windward side stopping at Waimanolo Bay/Makapuu lookout.

Then getting a rainforest fix on the North side of Pali Lookout

and stumbling on to Likeke Falls

Then headed up to Kualoa Beach Park at the top of Kaneohe Bay

and ended with dinner at The Shrimp Shack in Punaluu.

Yum!
